Is it expensive to study in Australia?
Combining relatively low tuition fees with low cost of living, Australia is considerably less expensive than UK and the US. In fact, research shows that the tuition fees for a Bachelor of Business degree in Australia are almost US$10,000 less expensive than the equivalent in the UK, and at least US$15,000 less than the same in the US.
Which is the “best” university in Australia and which is the most popular?
Different universities excel in different areas and there is n o official ranking of Australian universities. Popularity of the university depends on individual preferences and perceptions.
Is Australia a safe environment for international students?
Australia is a safe, welcoming country with stable democracy and low levels of crime. Within their institutions, international students will also find a friendly environment. All universities provide assistance through their international students with all aspects of their stay in Australia, from advice on enrolment to assisting with accommodation.
Is it difficult to get a student visa?
Getting an Australian visa is not at all difficult provided you have all the necessary documents. Most importantly, students (or their sponsors) must present financial documents to show that they can support their studies while in Australia.
Can I work while studying?
Student visas issued after 26 April 2008 will automatically have work rights. However, you can only start working when you have officially commenced your course. You can work a maximum of 20 hours per week during school days and full time during holiday periods. Your spouse will also have work rights on a dependent visa. If you are undertaking a vocational or bachelor’s degree, then your spouse can work 20 hours per week (full time during school break). However, if you are doing a Master’s degree or PhD then your spouse can work full time.
How do I apply to study in Australia and when do I start my course?
Submit the institution application form with a complete set of certified academic transcripts, proof of English language proficiency and other required documents to an IDP counselor. Courses in Australia generally begin in either February (1st semester) or July ( 2nd semester). However, some courses are available throughout the year. Students are encouraged to apply at least 4 months in advance to provide ample time to process the student visa, which will take approximately 8 weeks.

How much does IDP charge?
IDP does not charge any fee for processing of your papers. IDP service to you is paid for by institutions-you pay the same tuition fees whether you use IDP or not, so you have nothing to lose but everything to gain by using IDP student services.
